Early May bank holiday 2016
I have always wanted to go to Southwold and finally we made it.
We stayed at a holiday park nearby in Dunwich. It was a pretty, wooded site with steps down to the beach and a fab restaurant that made eating on the first night after set up a doddle – they even had a great range of gin.
We had decided to have a bit of a practice ready for France in the Summer so took the awning for the first time this year – it proved to be a cosy addition to the evenings and wasn’t a great problem to drive away and more importantly back again. Gary did a great job on the erection side of things and I just followed around doing as I was told.
We went into Southwold on the Saturday and enjoyed the really pretty village, the shops and cafes, the pier and Adnams.
Happily one of my parent’s at school have a family beach hut there and they let me have the key – fab
Matching converse a definite must of the trip in grey and yellow of course and Nev proved a great windbreak for a glass of wine and a chill before fish and chips on the pier
On our way home on the Monday we visited Snape Maltings near Aldeburgh an arts complex on the banks of the River Alde at Snape, Suffolk, UK. It is best known for its concert hall, which is one of the main sites of the annual Aldeburgh Festival.
It was a really lovely place with lots to keep me occupied what with shopping, sculpture, Morris dancing, and cream teas. Can’t wait to go back in the Summer.
